Description: Launched in Sierre on June 26, 1901, the Walliser Nachrichten were published every Wednesday and Saturday, along with the official bulletin and an illustrated supplement on Saturdays. Its authors said they did not want to deal with politics. They intended to devote themselves exclusively to questions concerning the country’s economic development and their paper would especially serve the interests of Sierre and its local surroundings. In competition with the Briger Anzeiger and especially the Walliser Bote - the latter did not hesitate to attack the more recent publication, which it accused of being "only a nomad and foreign Protestant" - the Walliser Nachrichten ceased publication on June 27, 1903.
