Description: Newspaper of the protestant trade union movement, independent of political parties; according to its statutes association membership was incompatible with belonging to an anti-democratic political organization. In 1982, the SVEA joined the Christlich-nationaler Gewerkschaftsbund. The previous title was published in Bern as Der freie Schweizer Arbeiter or Der freie Arbeiter, 1 (1907/08) - 9 (1915/16). It addressed a broad range of issues: the organization of workers and employees, the 48-hour work week, employee participation, their participation in profits, socialism and Christianity, capitalism and materialism, social classes, youth and school issues. The newspaper was published monthly (1946-1951 bi-monthly), initially in quarto format then from 1922 in folio format. The title contained the supplement: Travail et famille (15.12.1941-01.02.1944, then: Le Syndicalisme Protestant) and was printed in Wallisellen (H. Albrecht, Th. Albrecht). Jakob Haas-Schneider was its long-time editor. After various title changes it was continued by aktiv Syna in 1995.
