Description: The Oberegger Anzeiger was founded in 1909 as a Catholic-conservative weekly newspaper and official gazette of the Oberegg AI district, by Father Robert Oberholzer (1866-1936) and Captain Johann Baptist Bischofberger (1868-1930). The newspaper was typeset by the Genossenschaftsbuchdruckerei (cooperative book printing office) in Appenzell and maintained a drop-off point for submissions in Oberegg. The Oberegger Anzeiger consisted of between one and one-and-a-half sheets and appeared every Friday. From 1 January 1948, the Oberegger Anzeiger was only published as the header paper of the Appenzeller Volksfreund, so apart from the title strip, the newspapers were now identical. Since 1981 the Appenzeller Volksfreund has featured the words Oberegger Anzeiger in its subtitle.
