Description: The first issue of the Walliser Volksfreund, organ of the “Christlichsoziale Kartell Oberwallis”, ancestor of the “Christlichsoziale Partei Oberwallis”, appeared on December 3, 1920. First published weekly from 1920 to 1922, it then appeared twice (1922-1932, 1940- 1959 and 1985-1987), three times (1932-1940, 1959-1966) and even four times (1967-1968) per week. A daily newspaper from 1969 to 1985, it finished as it had started, as a weekly newspaper. The last issue was published on December 29, 1989. This journal was to be the source of inspiration and the Upper Valais counterpart of the title Le Travailleur, christian-social newspaper.
