Description: Originally designed as an address book newspaper in 1899 for the weekly communication of changes of address from the territory of the city of Zurich, the loose-leaves printed at the Art. Institut Orell Füssli were continuously supplemented with news about local personalities, reports of local events, police reports on accidents or crimes, and photo reports about areas of the town or about individual buildings. From its second year the publication was given the official title Zürcher Wochen-Chronik and the name Zürcher Adressbuch-Zeitung was only retained as a subtitle for a short time. At the end of each year, the loose-leaf editions were bound into a book titled Chronik der Stadt Zürich.
