Description: The first issue of the Courrier du Valais was published on January 1st 1843 with the motto "Union and progress". It appeared on Saturdays and Sundays over four pages and championed education and religion. It ceased publication on December 31st 1844 following a change in the press law, to resume on January 1st 1849 as the successor to the Journal du Valais. It ceased publication for good on December 30th 1857.
