Description: Die Ta, a daily publication, was founded in 1939 by Gottlieb Duttweiler. It defended the ideas of the Independent Alliance (AdI), a liberal party created by Duttweiler. With its clear political position - it immediately distanced itself from National Socialism - and its weekly supplement Literarische Tat - led by Max Rychner, and later by Erwin Jaeckle - it acquired a reputation as a serious newspaper. In its heyday, before World War II, it reached a circulation of over 40,000 copies. After years of increasing losses, related to the decline of the political press, Die Tat ceased publication in 1977. The tabloid of the same name that replaced it, published by Migros and directed by Roger Schawinski, only survived until 1978.
